Interview of Assalaam Students with Colonel Prof. DR. H. Kamarudin bin H. Kachar, the Chairman of Malaysian National Scout Organisation: "sekali pramuka, tetap pramuka, once be a scout – always be a scout…"
When The Eleventh Malaysian National Scout Jamboree was held in Desember 2006 in Ulu Bendol, Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan, SD Assalaam contingent members, represented by Dion Nurfadhilah, Fabian, Febrian, Farraz, Iqbal, Fikron, Wina, Zati, and Rifka, had great opportunity to interview him.
Dion: What is your position right now, Sir?
H. Kamarudin: I'm Kamarudin bin Haji Kachar, I became the Chairman of Malaysian National Scout Organization.
Iqbal: From the age of what were you active in scouting activities?
H. Kamarudin: From the age of ten years, it has been so long time ago.
(Answering the question, Mr. Kamarudin's sight point to the badge mention on Iqbal's jacketl), Where are you guys from? From Bandung, Indonesia? (Mr. Haji Yacoob, The Chief of Johor State, who contributed the West Java's contingent turned his sight and answered: “They are all my children.”
H. Kamarudin: Oh you seem together with your foster father, huh?(laughing out loudly) Any more questions, my boys?
Fikron: Had you got any unforgettable experiences during the small scout boy, Sir?
H. Kamarudin: Wow, It was building the tent, then it rained heavily, we then made floor from bamboo so we could sleep as well, it was in the night. Everybody worked together in a teamwork patrol system, in scouting it's a must, helping each other, there was a chief, and also members, and of course we have to obey the chief.
Febrian: And what was your impressive experience?
H. Kamarudin: It was swimming test in the river, I passed the test only by twice while my friends had to pass it in five times.
Fikron: What is your great scouting program in the future?
H. Kamarudin: The program such we have got today is one of our great agenda, and also we would like to hold Rover Moot Asia, it is scout gathering for the age of eighteen that would be held in 2008.
Rifka: Sir, Would you like to suggest us as the young scout children?
H. Kamarudin: My message is once be a scout – always be a scout, always be the best of the best, the best in attitude, manner, and activity, and you also have to increase your quality of life, and achieve to be the best, because the scout boy has to get the good personality, too.
After interview, we presented the gift of Indonesian Scout Doll named ANAKING, means the Indonesian Boy who always contributes his life for the country, it was a friendship symbol between us and Mr. Kamarudin and also the Malaysian Scout in general.
